Dead Romantic

by JoAnne Kenrick

Dead Romantic, that's how one reader described Tales from the Coffin series. And yes, she meant it as a pun. And I couldn't be more thrilled with that 'tag', because that's exactly the feeling I set out to create when Estella decided to invade my computer with her dark paranormal tales and her own stories of woe. Yes, she may be a bitter, twisted old vampire who was stood up at the altar by Dracula. She may be still wearing her wedding dress from her almost married status, and she may spend her nights scoffing at anything male with her zombie lover and sometimes faithful servant, Lucy Rot. But let's face it. You know it. I know it. Estella is bound for love...the question is, when and where will she find it?

What's that you say? You didn't think Estella had it in her to move past Dracula, did you? To be honest, neither did I. Hey, maybe she won't be able to. It is her telling these stories, ya know. She has complete power over what does or doesn't happen.

I was certain this series would not be paranormal romance, just paranormal. And very twisted and smexy.
But it seems every time I visit Estella in her boudoir, more of her heart is revealed. She is a tough cookie to crack, but I think I know just the man...or woman...for the job. So if it's romance you want, looks like you've got it. Read the series in order to follow Estella, Lucy, and The Cruncher's love story.  Or, if you're in the mood for a quick, twisted paranormal fix that's smexy hawt...then pick one and dive in. But be warned, Estella and Lucy may be beautiful creatures of the night, but they do bite so keep those hands in!

NEW RELEASE BITTERSWEET SYMPHONY, Tales from the Coffin book 3

The Bone Cruncher hasn't visited in a while, and Estella thinks it’s something she did. Misery loves company, but she loves food more. Putting on a smile, she musters up an erotic story. But can she make it to the end of the tale without comfort eating?

To onlookers, Seren lived the high life in London with her orchestra conductor of a husband. She had a major case of unrequited love for her best friend, though, so their relationship was doomed from the beginning. Divorce papers served, it’s time for her to go back to her home town on the England-Wales border and face the music.
Owen, now a postman of their little market town, is thrilled to see Seren when he shows up at her doorstep with mail. It’s not long before they’re releasing their pent up lust and love for each other. Within that mail, though, are letters addressed to Seren’s parents. They’re from her ex and hold a truth Seren is too fearful to face. Even with Owen by her side.

For buylinks, trailers and more.

Tales from the Coffin series, in order
Strange and Beautiful - out now
All the Pretty Faces - out now
Bittersweet Symphony – out now

Treacle and Treason releases October 26th:
It’s Bonfire Night, but the fireworks in Estella’s boudoir are more impressive than any rocket or sparkler.  She has more pressing things on her mind than trivial traditions like burning the guy and crunching her canines on treacle toffee. A spot of unrequited love, and her little deady bear’s rotting body.
What better way to distract herself than to entertain you with a ghostly retelling of the infamous Guy Fawkes and the Fifth of November legend.

  1. Does the Phantom of the Opera count? I always felt for him, as he truly did love Christine.

All the best with your new release! :)

    1. Arghh total ear-worm now! My mum loved the Phantom of the Opera and often played Micheal Crawford's tunes in the old tape deck. hehe All those tunes are now rushing through my head.
And yup...I'd say he was a darn good contender. I felt so sorry for him...bless his cottons.
Thanks for stopping by and entering xx good luck!

  2. Hmm... that's a good one. I don't watch many 'monster' movies, but I do watch vampire movies and TV shows, and I've always had a thing for Damon Salvatore. Even when he's being really evil. And I've always wanted him to get Elena.

    1. Ahh, that sounds like my love for Spike from Buffy Vampire Slayer. He's a conniving evil sod, yet I still wanted him to 'get the girl. How they managed that when he'd been such a hated character previously in the series...genius!
Thanks for stopping by and entering, Lucy. Good luck xx

  3. I would say the mini-series Frankenstein 2004 with Luke Goss as the monster. He had me in shreds! It followed the book very closely. Happy release day JoAnne! Your book sounds great!

    1. Oh no! Shut the front door. I did not see that. Luke Goss, I owe you nothing fame, was Frankenstein? I need to see that. Oh yes I do. Fingers crossed Netflix can help me out. Or amazon.
Frankenstein is a monster. But *aww sad face* at the hands of someone else. Poor thing. awww
Thanks for the shares, Karyn x and good luck!!

  4. Why does "Estella" in her wedding dress remind me so much of Miss Haversham? LOL! Creepy!

    1. mwahaha all she needs is some cats! If they'd survive living with a vamp and zombie, I'm sure she'd have some as company.
That's where she came from -- an old episode of Tales from the Crypt and a sudden idea of a Mrs Haversham type storyteller. And the song Opheliac by Emily Autumn.
Thanks for stopping by and entering, Taryn. xx good luck!

  5. Name my favorite monster from a book, movie, or tv that I felt was humanized and made me 'feel' for them when things didn't go their way...what was it about the creature that made him/her/it grow on me?

I don't know if this applies for an answer you're LQQking for, but what came right to mind is 'King Kong'. I actually teared up at the end of the movie, especially in the re-make of the movie. They managed to humanize him so much, you actually felt emotions & feelings that does not come from a Gigantic Gorilla. You were rooting for him, but in the end, felt his pain, emotional & physical & I actaully teared up.

    1. Heck yeah!! Perfect example. Poor King Kong. I sobbed my heart out at the end of that movie. And still do every time I see it.

Thanks for entering, and good luck!

  6. I couldn't help thinking of Herman from the Munsters! So much didn't go his way for sure. And that whole family felt they were normal and everyone else was not! I was mainstreamed as a deaf throughout and remember this show when I was in high school and it so made me feel a bit stronger when I was teased and would think of this show. I wished they had them on again. Lol

  7. I have to agree with Phantom of the Opera as well. He wanted to be loved but went about it the wrong way. I always cry when I watch the movie at the end when he tells her to go with Raul and leave him!

  8. I would have to say Eric Northman from True Blood. I really didn't like him when I started watching the show, but then he softened a little and I felt for him when he was being turned down by Sookie. :)
Another one is Lestat from Interview With A Vampire. I felt sorry for him at the end of the movie (a little anyway).
This sounds like an very interesting series. I have not read a book with a zombie lover before. :)

  9. I would say Angel from Angel & Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
