It's Hot Around Here!

by Rebecca Royce

Would you believe that when I first started writing—and I don’t mean the writing I did when I was young—but when I first started trying to write professionally, I really didn’t write sex scenes?  I know. Its kind of hard to sit here now and look at my backlist and believe there was a time where I was so uncomfortable with writing the word ‘cock’ that I absolutely would not do it.
Look at me. I just blogged the word cock.  Its morning as I write this and I haven’t had enough coffee so I will spare you the cacophony of other words that I would not put on the page.  And then something shifted inside of me.  The more paranormal I became in my storytelling (and that is mostly what I do now) the more the writing seemed to require hot language. These people—these creatures—were hot blooded. Of course, they had hot sex and these were love stories.  I didn’t want to read purple prose any more than the readers wanted to.  And the hotter both my writing and my language became.
But, when I was first told about The Edge stories, and quickly wrote one, my very talented editor Valerie Mann, told me that while the story was hot, it wasn’t hot enough. Really? I’d not heard this before.  There was a whole step up I could go in heat?  And thus Unwanted Mate was born.  It really pushed me to my edge of comfort level and with each subsequent story in the Shifters and Bikers stories the hotter it became.
It doesn’t surprise me that when I read reviews of this series, the stories are so highly thought of amongst reviewers.  How could they not be swept away in the same pulsating, steamy direction that I was when I wrote it? I just couldn’t believe it that I’d created these characters that wanted each other that intensely and that I could put it on the page.
But that was the point of the series.  To take these stories and really push them to the Edge.  Readers love them and, guess what, so do the writers who put them on page.

Tell us what you think is hot to read in an erotica story and one commenter will win a book from Rebecca Royce's backlist at Decadent Publishing!

The Idea for—The Landscaper

by Stephanie Williams

We’ve all done it ladies. Fantasized about that blue-collar worker: The plumber, the contractor and the pool guy.

He’s always that hunky, Alpha Male, that doesn’t speak much, but just gets the job done!

In reality however, these men look like Larry the Cable guy. No disrespect, but lets face it, you won’t see him a on the cover of a hot smokin’ erotic novel or even a sweet romance.

What is it about these men that make our imagination soar and our mouths water? Why do we write about these men, and make them the epitome of the Alpha male?

Because there is nothing sexier than man with a hammer or power tool in his hand, or a bag of cement slug over his shoulder.

They look like that can take care of business—among other things. They’re the strong silent type. They don’t jabber, they just go into action.

Thus, my idea for The Landscaper. He’s sexy; he’s hot and ready for action!

Nothing like watching a man, hot and sweaty, covered in mud. When he takes a break from digging up the terra, he stops, rests his forearm on the shovel and wipes his brow with his arm.

Oh yeah!

Now don’t tell me seeing that doesn’t make your mouth water. In fact, you’ll be more inclined to offer him an ice cold glass of beer—or invite him to take a shower to get cleaned up. *WINK*

Leave a comment on what makes YOUR mouth water when you watch a man! One lucky commenter will win a copy of The Landscaper or another book from Stephanie’s backlist at Decadent Publishing. Don’t forget to leave your email address!

The Milkman Cometh…forth!

by Kate Richards

Los Angeles County in the 1950s. Post WWII. All those adorable soldier boys home from war and settling down in the balmy lands they’d discovered during their time in the service. The infant aerospace industry and the burgeoning (one of my favorite words I can rarely find a use for!) auto industry built plants all over the landscape of Los Angeles and Orange County. Suburbs popped up like mushrooms.

As the menfolk, fresh from their GI Bill college educations, marched off to their desk jobs at Douglas and Lockheed, they left their wives, in homes full of modern time-saving appliances. And every morning, a man dressed in a starched clear uniform showed up to brighten their day.

And who can resist a man in uniform?

For most of his customers he brings milk, eggs, maybe even orange juice (ours used to), but for a select few he offers a little something special.
This is the first of my Milkman series. I figure, since I did a solid week of research into the 1950s in SoCal, the suburban movement, the dairy industry in Cerritors, CA, interracial relations in the Los Angeles area at the time and most importantly lingerie…it’s worth a mini-series. After all, how many hot guys in uniform actually deliver!

Roberto’s reputation extends far beyond his efficiency as a milkman. He also provides intimate services to the many lonely ladies along his route. But he’s had his eye on a lovely divorcee for quite some time. One who has ignored all his flirting, so far.
Alice is ready to make a fresh start. Treated as the tract harlot, just because she’s on her own, she’s ready to make that name a reality. And she’s going to begin with the handsome milkman who has let her know on several occasions that he’s ready to deliver.
Roberto is playing with fire—a fiery redhead whose surprising innocence may steal his heart and leave the ladies of his route unsatisfied once again!

The Power of Three: A Story of Firsts

by Jessica E. Subject
We always remember our first kiss and the first time we have sex. There is something magical and memorable about these moments for most. In reading, I remember the first BDSM story I read. It opened my eyes to a brand new world, and a whole lot of fun.

And in writing, it’s much the same. I like to try new things under the scope of romance. While penning The Power of Three, I wrote a story of many firsts. This is my first paranormal romance, my first erotica story, and my first story told in strictly the male POV. It’s also my first ménage to involve M/M action. Pretty exciting for a story I originally wrote just for fun.

Bo and Delayna, although reluctant, experience many firsts as well when Oscar joins them in their bedroom. I hope you’ll experience them, too in The Power of Three.

Blurb:
Cursed to live amongst several stone gargoyle statues, Oscar watches a young couple, yearning to participate in their sexual activities. For he has been away from his own lovers for over a year, and longs to touch and be touched again.

When he tumbles off the headboard onto the couple, he is released from the statue but must find a way home. His only thought: a ménage with the man and woman who freed him. But will they try something new to grant him his return passage, or leave him wandering Earth alone?

Adult Excerpt:
“Listen, Del. I understand your obsession with the paranormal, but does this thing really need to be in the bedroom?”
Oscar’s heart raced, the man’s fingers achingly close to his stone cock. He needed out of the statue. Now.
“I don’t complain about the model airplanes all over the house, including this spaceship looking one that’s suspended above our bed, do I?” Stepping back, she settled her hands on her hips.
The view? Perfection.
“That Stealth Bomber is worth more than your silly statues and doesn’t cause concussions.”
She rolled her eyes and lunged, making her tits bounce. “Really, because I could’ve sworn you hit your head on it the other day when we were making the bed. Now, give him here, please.”
“You don’t care that this thing hurt me, do you?”
“Maybe he’s jealous that you were getting some and he wasn’t.”
Ain’t that the truth.
Bo glared at her. “So not funny.”
Did she know he was really in there? Could she feel him watching her, wanting her?
Bo lowered him to her palm, but didn’t let go. “You and your creatures.”
She leaned forward and kissed the bump on his head, her breast rubbing across Oscar. “But you love me anyway.”
And then a loud crack filled the air. Light surrounded him and he was falling.
As if being sucked out of the stone, Oscar sprang from his prison and landed on the floor on hands and knees. Taking a deep, refreshing breath, he stood and stretched his arms high into the air in all his naked glory. Being confined to such a small space had left him stiff, and not in a good way.
Delayna gasped, glancing from him to the broken bits of stone on the carpet.
“What the hell?” Bo grabbed the bed sheet and draped it over his wife, knocking the gargoyle remnants in her hand onto the carpet. “Who the fuck are you, and how did you get here?”
He stumbled back. “I’m Oscar and I think, somehow, you both set me free.” The evil sorceress, Catalis, hadn’t bothered to explain how the curse worked, tossing him into this world and the stone figure before he’d had the chance to ask.
Delayna giggled as she eyed him from head to toe, her gaze sending electric sparks along his spine.
He winked at her. Now that he could move, he longed even more to touch every graceful curve.
Bo grabbed a phone. “I’m calling the cops.”

A Giveaway and an Escape with Jennifer Labelle

The great thing about writing romance, especially when it’s erotic, is that anything goes. I can step outside the box that is my normal life and create characters with unlimited possibilities. Life is busy and let’s face it, it’s great to have an escape once in awhile.

I’ve got an amazing husband, I’m a mother of three beautiful children, and my world revolves around them first and foremost, everything else comes in second. My children are ten, five, and four so you can imagine how time consuming they can be. J  It’s the best and hardest job I’ll ever have.
So when the kids are quiet, the hubby is content, and I’ve got all the laundry, dishes, and everything else on my to-do list checked off, I like to sit back, curl up on the couch, grab my laptop, and turn my imagination into words.
In my new Edge erotica release, No Strings Attached, Julie and Ryan are two very busy people that have a hard time connecting romantically because of their hectic work schedule. He’s a sexy marine, and she’s a busy nurse. They both live, eat, and sleep their careers and decide to take the leap to change that status through a personal ad.

Check it out:
Julie Saunders and Gunnery Sergeant, Ryan Hawke have both hit a rough patch in life. Demanding jobs ensure there aren’t enough hours in the day to get out there and meet people. Tired of feeling lonely and in need of attention, they turn to the personals for a no-strings-attached encounter.

When Ryan sees Julie’s response to his ad for a hook up, he’s relieved he’s found a sane one in the bunch. She’s beautiful, they share the same goals, and she’s got a hell of an adventurous side–just what he needs.

Can reality live up to expectations or will a no-strings hook-up leave them craving more?

EXCERPT:
He slung her over his shoulder and she squealed with laughter while he ran toward the truck. Parked in the shade, it was dark enough to partially hide them from view. He loosened his hold so she could slide to the ground, every mouth watering muscle in his body molding to her along the way. She pulled him close, breast to chest, and he captured her mouth again. His tongue slid across the slit of her lips, savoring her taste before he nipped at her bottom lip. “What do you say we take the edge off a bit?”
“I’m game. What do you have in mind?” Moisture soaked her thong and she became a little breathless with excitement. Ryan’s calloused palms roamed down her sides to the hem of her dress. Gripping it ever so slowly, he pulled it up.
“First, I’m going to get this sexy dress out of the way and check how wet you are for me.” Hard fingers squeezed her ass. “Then I’m going to unzip my pants, lift you so you can wrap those very sexy legs around my waist, and enjoy the tight, wet, warmth of your pussy around my cock while I fuck you fast and hard. I plan to make you come and drown out your cries with my mouth. When we’re both satisfied, then and only then, will we go back to your place and start all over. Only next time we’ll take our time.”

“Damn, that sounds good.” She bit her lip thinking about it. “What if somebody sees us?”

“Doesn’t that make it a more exciting experience? The element of being caught at any moment a turn on?” He grinned. “It’s not likely anyone will notice. I’ll make it look like we’re just two lovers enjoying an innocent embrace. A heated kiss, if you will. Besides, I’m not sure how long this first time will last, which, if I’m being honest won’t be that long at all. I’m so worked up, it’ll be fast and hard, but I promise to make you come at least once before we leave.”

Searching for Inspiration in Crazy Times

by Regina Carlysle
It doesn’t matter what kind of artistic, ‘creative-type’ you might be. Painter. Writer. Sculptor. Actor. Musician. We all need inspiration to make what we do not only  cohesive but beautiful. We are people who make things happen creatively and without inspiration, even our best efforts can fall flat. Finding something that moves us is the key to unlocking the dreams and imaginings we want to share with the world…or maybe even just a small part of it. These days you’d think that would be an easy feat but it’s not as simple as you might think. Let’s face it, we’re busy people living in a world that races rather than walks from one thing to the next.
Maybe the most important key to discovering what moves you is to simply observe. Listen to the radio when you drive. Pay attention when walking through a mall or hanging out in a park. Watch the world around you and find those things that make you say…ahhhh. Those things are the makings of the next major piece of art, a beautiful song or a book that makes a reader sigh.
I’m beginning to think finding inspiration is just a matter of slowing down, taking stock and dragging a few deep breaths into my lungs. Finding a center, a peaceful place deep inside is key to my becoming inspired. Lately, I sit on the back porch in my search for motivation. This is where I get my best ideas, where plots evolve and plans for a book are born. Recently, I’ve relocated from my beloved Texas to sunny Florida and the view from my back patio is spectacular. Orange trees, red birds, lizards and yes, the occasional snake colors my world and in watching them, I gain peace and feel a renewed creativity that I’d believed had gotten lost somewhere along the way. I’ve learned lately that I am motivated by ‘visual’ things. Note the picture of the rugged cowboy and the isolation of his stance. The other day I saw the photo somewhere and knew I ‘had to have him’. Thank God for copy and save because now I know that I can re-visit this guy on my computer and find impetus  for another story of those rough, rugged men of the west. He might be a rancher, a hired hand or even a ‘cowboy shifter’. Who knows where this bit of inspiration might take my next book?
 I’m dying to find out.

Beautiful Ink

by L.C.Dean

For many people motorcycles evoke either love or hate. For those who attend the Motor Classic in Sturgis, South Dakota, motorcycles offer a ticket to pure escape. Close your eyes and imagine riding through Spearfish Canyon as the sun rises over the pine covered hills. Take a twenty minute jaunt to Deadwood and gamble a little or tour the historic treasures still found there. If curves are your passion, ride Hwy16A and catch a glimpse of Mount Rushmore as you pass through the tunnels. For a less challenging adventure, ride south for ninety minutes or so to view the carving of Crazy Horse Memorial. Check out the races and hill climbs, or have a beer and take in a concert at one of the many bars and campgrounds open solely for the rally. Add to all of this visitors from around the world and motorcycles that range from solid chrome to rusted rat bikes. Sturgis is the perfect place to forget the rules and break loose.

With the Sturgis Rally Rider series written for Decadent Publishing’s erotic EDGE, I hoped to offer a glimpse at Sturgis, while providing readers a little escape. Although the focus of these shorts is erotic escape, of course, the setting adds to the characters’ abilities to break down barriers they might normally be unable or unwilling to breach.

Each of these stories look at the rally from a different perspective. Runaway Virgin offers the point of view of a young girl anxious to escape the expectations of her overprotective father and brothers. Whipped Puppy is about trying new experiences – embracing personal fantasies that are often tamped down in favor of societal expectations. Public Adoration explores the relationship between a couple who hopes the Rally will allow them to overcome problems and see one another through fresh eyes. And Beautiful Ink, perhaps my favorite among the stories, introduces the people behind the scenes, the locals who are not always fans of the masses who descend and the workers who keep the party going. In this case a rancher and a tattoo artist.
I invite you to take a ride on the wild side and visit Sturgis during the Motorcycle Classic. Give me a shout if you’re going and I will buy you a beer.

Blurb:
Too many days of living on soda and energy drinks have left Ink Monroe too keyed up to sleep. She needs a good ride to release her sexual tension so she can get some rest, but when the perfect hottie turns her down flat, she’s too pissed to keep looking.

Hooking up with a stranger is not Jet Ryan’s style but when he rescues the beautiful tattoo artist from the groping hands of a drunk, his personal boundaries fall to a desire to make her scream. He just needs to get past her anger, prove he’s not a serial killer, and show her what letting go is all about.
